Weekly Review

We went 1-0 on officially graded tips last week, for a profit of +1 unit. We also successfully pushed forward 4 parlays.

Winning Single (0.5 Units)

Deok No Yun came through for us as a 3.0 underdog, forcing Moriwaki to retire after 7 rounds. He was 4 rounds up at the time of the stoppage, so a decision looked likely if it went to the cards. This was the rubber match. A technical draw and split decision win for Moriwaki in Japan were already in the history books. The 3rd fight was taking place in Korea, so I felt Yun would have the advantage this time, especially as the last fight was close.

Treble in Progress (3 Units)

Dzimitry Asanau beat Luis Santana by a wide unanimous decision. Santana landed more than his fair share of right hands, but he was out worked and out maneuvered throughout most of the fight. Santana was dropped in the 3rd round. We now have Giorgio Visioli to complete the treble.

Treble in Progress (2 Units)

Wilkens Mathieu beat Vladimir Shishkin by split decision in a fairly competitive fight. Two judges had Mathieu winning 8-2. The 3rd judge had it 7-3 for Shishkin. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but Eye of The Tiger promotions are known for corrupt decisions. I feel that the 3rd judge gave it to Shishkin to "prove" that they're not biased towards the home fighter. I'm not buying it. Jahmal Harvey destroyed Pedro Castro in under 3 rounds, landing a beautiful knockout shot. We now have Shannon Ryan to complete the treble.

Double in Progress (4 Units)

Gohan Garcia stopped Shiraishi in the 3rd round in Mexico. It was a hometown fight for Garcia, against an average and inactive Japanese fighter. Garcia has 4 losses on his record, but he was often the travelling B side and could have been given the decision on neutral ground in each fight. The one regret I have is not taking the ko at 5.0. He only had 3 ko's on his record, but he's been fighting tough opponents and had 12 rounds to work with. We now have Charlie Sheehy to complete the double.

Double in Progress (4 Units)

Floyd Schofield won a relatively wide unanimous decision over Lucas Bahdi. Bahdi was counted in the 3rd round, and Schofield was down in the 11th. That's twice in 3 fights that Schofield has been dropped in the 11th round. Bahdi does punch hard, but Schofield's chin definitely causes me concern. The odds of around 1.12 certainly didn't look correct while watching the fight. Thankfully, we got the win and move this double into Sebastian Fundora this week. He's down to 1.083 from the 1.12 that we locked in.

Summary

Although we had only one completed bet last week, it was an important week for us. We risked 13 ½ units and lost 0. We landed another underdog, which I believe brings us to 21-10 on dogs this year.
